CHELSEA came back from two goals down to beat Spurs 4-3 and close the gap on Liverpool to four points at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Blues were already 2-0 behind within eleven minutes Jadon Sancho scored his second goal in five days to put them back in it.
Of Arsenal then lose ground Fulham held them to a 1-1 draw, Chelsea now enjoy a two-point cushion Mikel Arteta‘s men.
Cole PalmerThe first penalty canceled out both Dominic Solanke And Dejan Kulusevski‘s asked strikes to make many wonder what is there next for Ange Postecoglou?
Captain Enzo Fernandez completed the incredible comeback with a brilliant left-foot volley from a bouncing ball in the 73rd minute.
A ridiculous push from Pape Matar Sarr saw Anthony Taylor point to the spot again, with Palmer offering up a cool Panenka.
After missing unprecedented opportunities, Son Heung-Min grabbed a consolation in the 96th minute, but Spurs remain winless since their 4-0 win over Man City.
Here’s how SunSport’s Lloyd Canfield rated the players…
Robert Sanchez-4
The home fans kept an eye on him throughout the first half after he took the ball out of play early on.
He couldn’t have done much about the goals, and he recovered well in the second half.
Moises Caicedo-6
Chelsea’s best defender on the day, provided some strong challenges moving into midfield and put in another solid performance.
Luckily escaped a card for a late challenge on Pape Matar Sarr, before a brilliant second half.
Benoit Badiashile-4
Looked uncomfortable playing as a left-footed centre-back on the right.
Often didn’t help Robert Sanchez by getting him into trouble, and looked uncomfortable trying to get ahead from the back.
Levi Colwill-6
This allowed Solanke to get in front of him and finish brilliantly at the near post for the opening goal.
I didn’t have much to do in the second half, which was perhaps a good sign as the whole defense had improved.
Marc Cucurella-4
Slipped at the crucial moment to practically put Spurs through and open the scoring inside five minutes, before slipping AGAIN in which Kulusevski doubled the lead.
He recovered very well after exchanging his skates football bootswho got the assist for Sancho’s goal and put in a solid performance throughout the second half.
That said, he should be written off for the two goals.
Romeo Lavia-8
Energetic, strong and flexible on the bend in midfield, with some brilliant line-breaking passes too.
Like Caicedo, he will be a reliable, commanding figure in Chelsea’s midfield.
Came out ahead halfway Malo Gustowhat must have been a tactical switch.
Enzo Fernández (c) – 9
Didn’t misplace any of his 28 passes in the first half, as did Lavia, before adding a stunning game-winning left-footed volley to his host of impressive displays.
His best game in a Chelsea shirt came in one of their biggest games of the season, as he continued his remarkable run of goals.
Pedro Neto-7
A threat on the right wing in the first half for Chelsea, he pressed well and came close to scoring from Palmer’s deflected effort.
A constant danger, he was creative but missed the end product a bit if you are critical.
Cole Palmer-9
If you mis-kicked a chance in the first twenty minutes you would normally bet your house on him scoring, before going close again moments later with a shot from distance.
He calmly sent his equalizer into the bottom corner, after which Enzo Fernandez gave his team the lead.
The icing on the Chelsea cake was an ice-cold panenka from the penalty spot.
Jadon Sancho-8
Excellent finish to pull one back for the Blues and raise hope among the supporters.
Generally sharp in the build-up and tricky feet as always, with a great slide rule to see Caicedo win the penalty for Chelsea’s equalizer.
Nicolas Jackson-6
Looked like a threat for Chelsea but failed to get themselves on the scoresheet this time.
He seemed concerned as he left the field on his way to the incoming team Christopher Nkunku.
SUBS:
Malo Gusto (Romeo Lavia, HT) – 5
Was more direct and certainly an improvement over Malacia, albeit on the other flank.
However, the difference still could not be made Reuben Amorim would have looked into this.
Christopher Nkunku (Nicolas Jackson, 76)
I got into some good positions and applied good pressure, which kept me an outlet for the Chelsea attack when they countered.
Ultimately not enough time to have the impact he would have wanted.
Noni Madueke (Pedro Neto86)
Not enough time to influence the game in any way.
Renato Veiga (Marc Cucurella, 90)
Not enough time to give a solid judgementbarely touched the ball.
Joao Felix (Cole Palmer, 90)
Came on the field seven minutes before time, with Chelsea largely defending.
